Raymundo Colares

Grão Mogol, MG, 1944 –

Montes Claros, MG, 1986

Colares exploits concrete geometrics and combines it with references to comic strips and the confusion of urbanization. Enjoying a successful career in the 1970s and 1980s, the artist forged a link between constructivism, modern art, pop art and experimental art. His paintings had their own visual rhythms. They expressed movement. Over time, he established a predominant theme: buses. This very same element that made him famous, ends his life, when he was run over by one of them.
